A 5 Year Old.... A Washington Trip... A New Year and Other Misc. Picture Post
It has been a wonderful December with lots of snow to play in here at home. A little boy turning 5 years old! And a fantastic trip to Washington to celebrate Christmas with family!
We also let the kids help us decorate the tree for the first time. It's just something Nathan and I have always done together but the boys helped this year and were all over it... well at least all over the bottom 1/2 of the tree :-)
Colin was so sweet... he even gave me an early Christmas present he made all by himself. It is bunch of little papers held together with paper clips attatched to a string "just in case I ever need to write something down" :-) I love the gift tag he attatched as well :-) 
We were to head to Seattle on a Thursday night but there was very dense fog in Boise that closed the airport and caused us to leave the next day... by way of LA :-) thankfully once again our children are airplane fanatics like their daddy and our 1 hr trip turned into a 5 hr one but it didn't bother them one bit.... they were so excited to get to go on two airplanes for the first time in one day!
The afternoon was then followed by hours spent at the Childrens Museum in Seattle with cousins, aunts and uncles. If you have never been... GO!!!!! And plan to spend a day :-) Both of the boys asked if next time while we are in Seattle if we can spend a whole day there :-) It was such a fun time for all the cousins to get to play together!

They had this AWESOME building area the boys specifically said they want to spend a whole day at sometime... here is the happy Birthday Boy!
I'm pretty sure Nathan and Stephen enjoyed the building area just as much as Colin, Alexander, Jack, Aiyana, Kian and Emma (all family in this picture) did.
They had this halarious oversized example of what comes out of your nose when you sneeze :-) I fine mist came down upon you and Alexander thought it was halarious... almost as funny as the next display that showed a person eating peas... your body digesting peas... and finally your body expelling peas :-) Oh the lessons my children learned that day :-)
We ended the birthday Day at Kevin, Atsuko, Aiyana, and Kian's home. (Thank you so much for opening up your home to us all!) For pizza and cake and ice cream... and some fun fellowship with family!
The next day Nathan's brother Daniel and his wife Rachael took Nathan and I to the symphony in Seattle while Kevin and Atsuko babysat (thank you once again!) :-) It was such a treat!

Wednesday the girls got to have a rare outing without the children and do some last minute shopping :-) and coffee time :-) we also got to see this wonderful drumming display in Bellevue and dinner out as well as a visit to the Botanical Gardens Christmas light display... it was amazing!
Thursday we worked on (graham cracker) ginger bread houses :-)
And Friday was a wonderful day of celebrating Christmas and time to just visit with each other.
One morning it was foggy and COLD and this is what we woke up to out our backdoor.... I love it when all the trees and plants are frost covered like this it's just beautiful!

The next day happened to be Alexander's 5th Birthday... I know 5 !!! I can't believe it either!
And to not be outdone by Colin's birthday Stephen and Pasha let us cover their living room floor with candy and balloons for Alexander to wake up to, he loved it!
They also took us to the YMCA to go swimming in the morning and as you can see below I think it was a hit for Alexander :-)

Monday we head on over the Nathan's sister April's home and settled in there for the rest of the week.
Tuesday April, Mariesa and Jack took the kids and I to the Seattle Aquarium... yet another must see place that we hadn't been to yet. The kids LOVED it! Even Harrison got into it... it was so sweet... Mariesa helped carry him around for me so I could help the older ones more and every time Maries would put Harrison up next to a fish tank he was following the fish around and giggling at them.

Upon returning home we then were able to host a New Year's Party for the Intervarsity group that Matt belongs to through Boise State. It was so much fun getting to know the people Matt hangs out with. It was fun too meet you all thanks for letting us crash your college party :-)
WOW! What a busy and fun filled holiday!! Everything sounds so fun. What a blessing to spend that time with family! And I know one Intervarsity member in particular who was very thankful for the New Year's Eve party!
