Colin Turns 8 Camping At Sagehen Reservoir
The annual Sagehen camping trip some of our friends put together happened to fall on Colin's Birthday this year. We head up to the campground with the other 6 families I believe it was. It is a wonderful and fun filled camping trip with amazing friends and their children ( heard a number going around that there was about 24 children.. and get this... Colin is the oldest of them all!!! The youngest was a newborn that had been born just a few weeks prior to our hostess Shannon (she is amazing)!
We brought up brownies for everyone and sang Colin happy birthday (but I somehow ended up with no pictures of this... oops) Sweet friends showering gifts on Colin our first night there... any army kit... he couldn't have asked for a more perfect gift for this army crazed boy :-)
Below is Claire... Jon and Shannon's oldest daughter helping take care of Eleanor as we were packing up the next day (yes... the next day... I'll get to why in a moment....) Claire had Eleanor giggling away... it was the first time Eleanor had giggled! It was the sweetest thing ever! Such a sweet memory to have of such a sweet little lady!
Brian went fishing and caught himself a trout... after he fixed it up for eating Alexander kindly asked if he could have the bones so he could take them to a museum... I think we have to do a bit more explaining as to WHY some bones are in museums :-)The camping trip was a blessing to Colin though it had to get cut a bit short. The weekend prior we went camping with Stephen and Pasha and Emma ended up with a tummy bug. It was all of about 12 hrs. all week she had been fine so we went ahead and went camping with our friends the following weekend. The first night there Emma got sick again! And the next morning Alexander was sick. Neither of them had a fever though... come to find out (unfortunately after other children ended up with it too... thankfully after they got home and not while they were camping) that there is some flu bug going around with no fever and the kids can be contagious for 7-10 days... who ever heard of such a thing?!?!?!? I am still so sorry for getting others sick.. we never would have gone had we known... but, thank you for letting us come even if for only one night. It was a wonderful birthday treat for Colin.
