Easter 2009

This Easter was wonderful!!! It's a holiday we look forward to every year... to celebrate what Jesus did for us! Just imagine being one of the first that discovered "He had risen!". What a wonderful surprise to discover!
The Cooney family has a tradition at Easter that Nathan has carried over to our children.... the children not only get Easter baskets filled with all sorts of goodies and trinkets that they don't normally get... but they get to "find" their Easter baskets. They wake up and go searching for them.... and get the wonderful surprise of finding them.
It's a great way to get the concept across to the kids of what joy there was in finding out that Jesus had risen!!! Finding that His Word had come true!!!
This was Emma's first Easter and it seemed silly at first to just toss eggs around on the grass out in what I would say was plain sight... but oh the joy she had in each and every egg she discovered! The expressions on her face were priceless! It was very convicting to think if I had that joy in my heart over the true meaning of Easter... over the discovery of what Jesus has done for me!
I absolutely LOVE the lessons the Lord teaches me through my little ones!!!!!!!!!!!!
Below are some pictures of our wonderful Easter day! The children finding eggs.... our DELICIOUS duck dinner that Nathan prepared for us... some relaxing time with dad... what a blessed day!
We ended up playing the Hot / Cold game to find the last egg.. do you see it??? It took them a bit to figure out to look ON the rock climbing wall instead of around it, under it, over it :-)

Emma took her egg hunting quite seriously as you can tell by her expression here... she wasn't about to be outdone by her brothers! We thought it being her first time we'd make all of hers easy... just out on the grass... she found all of those as well as some of the harder ones we hid for her big brothers!

Look at that little face! She was so excited every time she found one!

The ultimate egg hider!

And of course some much needed downtime with dad at the end of the day... here the boys are pretending to be sleeping like daddy while Emma is of course checking out daddy's shoes :-)
